How to Measure Blood Pressure Correctly?
Published on 30 Apr 2026
Monitoring your blood pressure at home is essential for heart health, but accuracy depends on technique. To get a precise reading:
Rest First: Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring. Avoid caffeine or smoking 30 minutes prior.
Correct Posture: Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor (don't cross your legs), and support your arm on a flat surface at heart level.
Cuff Placement: Place the cuff on bare skin, about 2cm above the elbow.
Consistency: Take two readings, one minute apart, and record the average.
